once america moves forward a generation, it almost never moves back and that was a problem for the mccains and even the romneys of this world. however -- when you're the vp, you get one shot to extend. you are defined by the guy above you. so, you get to ride on the previous generation. >> he gets younger. >> he's the youngest guy in this town, too. >> benjamin button. >> i talked to a veteran democratic actrist strategist who has been involved and she told me within 48 hours she got a call from both joe biden and martin omool o'malley about whe you in 2016. dick cheney was not going to run, we knew he was not going to run. you saw his influence in the second bush term go on decline. joe biden is saying he is prepared to run to keep his influence or is he running? >> i think it's hard to know that. i think people forget how important it is in this town, the personal relationships. people talked often enough that obama sometimes can be a and we will appreciate over the next two years in particular what a good retail politician this man is. i don't think anything gets done in this administra

john mccain, mitt romney, marco rubio, newt gingrich, all you know talking about climate change saying we need to address it. what changed you ask. two things. first of all, the great recession. when people are concerned about the economy, issues that are important but not urgent like climate change fall down the scale. the second change, the rise of the tea party. are you willing to work with the other side? newt gingrich took a lot of heat for that ad with nancy pelosi during the campaign. those two factors drive this issue down, but something like hurricane sandy, that could be a wake-up call. >> and hurricane sandy cost a lot of money. now, it's tough with all the pork that went in the bills, but bear with me, we got a $50 billion appropriation that just came to affected states. that cost a lot of money. so might it not, even if we're not really sure what a cut in emissions might do right now to the trajectory of the climate change that we've experienced, might it not be worth trying to do something about things? whether through carbon monoxide emissions, co2? >> no, i don't think

obama still would have beat john mccain, but by a smaller margin. if you look at the state of ohio, the president carries it with 51%, but mitt romney carried 12 of the congressional districts. this state is considering a bill that is not winner take all. do it by congressional district. the air comes out and another state of virginia. the governor said he doesn't support this law. not enough support this law. in the state of virginia again, president obama narrowly carries it. if you look at it here, it's 7 of 11. mitt romney carried 7 of the 11 and he would have won the majority. if you pull out to the country by congressional district, in all 50 states, mitt romney is the president today. this appears to be dying a little bit. if you did have a change like this, look at it. what would change? democrats would be down campaigning in places like alabama and georgia. any of these voting rights states that have african american districts. we would have a campaign in which republicans would be out campaigning in california. we haven't seen that since t
